Trinity tops for fitness

More than 3,000 people a week are now using the Trinity Swimming Pool since Bedford College took over the former Bedford High School in Bromham Road.

The award-winning college pledged to make the facilities at the prestigious site open to the community and they have done that and more.

The 25 metre pool is now UV cleansed making it more environmentally-friendly and more welcoming for those who have allergies and other health conditions.

It is used by clubs and groups seven days a week.

Meanwhile the rest of the facilities such as the sports hall and gym are increasingly booked up day and night.

“We are finding more people turning to our community facility for their fitness and well-being,” said Amanda Riches, Deputy General Manager of BCS Ltd which runs Trinity Arts & Leisure.

The Trinity Theatre is also now open to groups and clubs. The Bedford Film Society, Marianettes and Bedford Dramatic Club stage their events there regularly and the venue is also open for community, corporate and family activities.

Added Amanda: “We are proud to have made such a success of the services here to the community in such a short time and look forward to more joining us in the year ahead.”

A FREE 3 months’ adult swim pass worth £75 will be given to one person who follows @trinityleisure on Twitter. The winner will be selected at random from @trinityleisure followers on February 28th and contacted via Twitter.

Swim and Spin into shape in 2015

The recently refurbished 25 metre six-lane swimming pool is open for 2015 at the Trinity Leisure centre off Bromham Road, Bedford.

Formerly part of the SPA of the Bedford High School, the facility is now run by Bedford College Services Ltd and is available for community use. The pool has the advantage now of using an Ultra Violet sterilising system which reduces the amount of chlorine, as used in standard pools, by 75%.

As well as the pool for swimming and aqua aerobics, there are classes in pilates, spinning, yoga and the sports hall is for hire by local groups and clubs.

"People wanting to turn their New Year's resolution into a reality can come along to individual classes to find out what they like best or simply swim themselves into shape in our fantastic pool," said Centre Manager Amanda Riches.

There is on-site or on-street parking close by for those using the facilities from as early as 6.00am to as late as 10.00pm over seven days a week.
